Sowing the Future in the Cloud Forest

A group of 76 volunteer colleagues from Prosegur Bogotá set aside their daily routines for a day to venture into the heart of the Cloud Forest at Chicaque Natural Park, located in the municipality of San Antonio del Tequendama. Far from just an outdoor outing, the visit became an exercise in awareness, teamwork, and direct community action to protect local biodiversity and ensure the health of the region's water resources.

The volunteering day went far beyond simple observation; it focused on direct action and active learning. Divided into teams and guided by environmental conservation experts, the 76 volunteers participated in key ecological restoration and maintenance tasks:

1. Reforestation with Native Species
   During the activity, 50 native trees and plants were planted. Choosing local species is essential, as they are the only ones capable of integrating harmoniously into Chicaque’s soil, providing food and shelter for wildlife, and stabilizing sloped ground against erosion.
2. Invasive Species Control
   The team worked on clearing and removing invasive flora that chokes out indigenous vegetation. This process restores access to light and nutrients for native plants, accelerating the forest's natural regeneration.
3. Environmental Education and Water Culture
   Throughout the tour, participants joined workshops on the water cycle, responsible waste management, and land protection. This training aims to empower each participant to act as an environmental ambassador, both in their workplace and within their families.

Actions like the one carried out at Chicaque Natural Park remind us that the path toward a greener future requires consistency, action, and, above all, environmental education. 

Together, we continue to build a safer, more humane, and sustainable world.
