Promoting Education in Paraguay
We support third sector organisations in tackling school dropout rates and promoting inclusive education
Challenge for education: Paraguay
After more than a decade of commitment to education in the country, we have launched the programme ‘The Challenge for Education: Paraguay’ in partnership with the Botín Foundation. This pioneering initiative aims to foster a shift in mindset within social organisations, promoting networking and the design of ambitious projects that bring about genuine social transformation in vulnerable communities.
Through a holistic approach, we seek creative solutions to critical challenges such as digital access and emotional support in schools.
Over 10 months of blended learning, we supported 21 Paraguayan organisations by providing them with key tools to enhance their professional capacity. The programme included specialist mentoring, individual working sessions and workshops on collaborative methodologies such as Lean Startup and Design Thinking.
Thanks to this training, the participating organisations were able to transform their initial proposals into more efficient and sustainable initiatives capable of generating a real impact on the ground.
The programme concluded in March 2025 with the selection of the winning project: “Niños Profes”, by the Superniños Association. This innovative initiative tackles literacy gaps through a support community led by high-achieving students, using peer support and the phonetic method. To ensure its success, the initiative has received seed funding and technical support for its official launch.
The evaluation committee responsible for selecting the winning initiative was supported by the Spanish Embassy in Paraguay, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the Paraguayan Ministry of Education and Science, and other organisations such as the Association of Christian Entrepreneurs (ADEC), the ABC Color newspaper and Santillana Publishing.
In addition to the winning project, the programme recognised four other innovative initiatives as finalists, all of which are committed to inclusive education from different perspectives:
- Good Neighbours, by the Good Neighbours Paraguay Association.
- Pyahu Process, by the Dequení Foundation.
- Haihue, by the Ñanderogami Nursery Foundation, Hippy Paraguay and Transformación Paraguay.
- Prendé, by Fe y Alegría and El Lienzo.
