A Journey Toward Collective Environmental Awareness

Corporate volunteers in Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali have taken action to care for their local environment and reflect on how our everyday behaviors impact ecosystems.

Bogotá: Trees for Water Security

In the Thomas van der Hammen Forest Reserve, we began our journey through water. Together with Fundación Riparia  and the Bogotá Botanical Garden, we walked along dikes, visited the “grandfather oak,” and planted 50 native trees to help restore the ecosystem.
This activity encouraged participants to reflect on the role of water in urban water security and the importance of protecting urban biodiversity as a foundation for a sustainable future.

Medellín: Uncovering the Invisible

In Medellín, we faced a hidden reality: over 400 streams run through the city, many concealed by urban development or heavily polluted. During our route through Santa Elena, La Hueso, Ana Díaz, and La Iguaná—accompanied by the Medellín City Council—our volunteers explored how simple actions at home can lead to significant environmental change: reusing containers and clothing, avoiding single-use plastics, recycling used cooking oil, reducing shower time. This was a call to action to recognize and protect ecosystems that, though hidden, are vital to environmental balance.

Cali: Urban Rivers, Mirrors of the Ocean

In Cali, capital of Valle del Cauca, we explored the Cañaveralejo, Meléndez, and Pance rivers with Fundación Gaia and a team of biologists and anthropologists. We identified key zones, observed local flora and fauna, measured water quality, and collected waste along the riverbanks.
Each activity reinforced the idea that rivers reflect the health of our oceans, and that protecting these water bodies begins at home.

Impacto colectivo

More than 110 corporate volunteers participated in these environmental initiatives—collecting waste in Cali, planting 50 trees in Bogotá, and reflecting on sustainable habits in Medellín.
This project demonstrated that change begins with awareness and is realized through concrete actions:

  • Restoring land with native species
  • Reducing waste in rivers and oceans
  • Adopting sustainable habits in daily life

The experience strengthened the bond between our volunteers, local communities, and the environment—proving that corporate volunteering is a powerful tool for social transformation.

Water connects us all—and understanding this is just the beginning.
