From Paraguay to the World

At Fundación Prosegur, we proudly celebrate a new milestone in our Development Cooperation Program, Piecitos Colorados

Marlene Palma, a former student of the school Sagrada Familia in San Lorenzo (Paraguay) and recipient of a Prosegur Talent Scholarship, has concluded her university studies in Political Science and Sociology at the prestigious Trinity College in Connecticut, United States, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

This achievement not only represents individual academic success but also highlights the real and lasting impact of the Foundation’s commitment to inclusive and quality education in vulnerable contexts. Marlene is now the second graduate from the Piecitos Colorados program to earn an international university degree, becoming a role model for her peers.

Piecitos Colorados: Growing Opportunities from scratch

Marlene began her academic journey in one of the schools affiliated with the program, which, for over a decade, has worked to improve the integral education of children in vulnerable situations across Latin America and Central America.

Her effort, dedication and academic excellence were evident from the beginning, which enabled her to earn a scholarship to pursue the International Bachelor´s at Atlantic College in Wales, part of the United World Colleges educational network.

Piecitos Colorados taught me that big dreams are born in small classrooms. Thanks to Prosegur Foundation for giving me that first opportunity to expand my horizons, that changed everything for me.

International Education with Local Impact

After two years of hard work and new experiences in a multicultural environment, Marlene assumed a new challenge: continue forming at university, on this occasion succeeding at getting a full scholarship for studying at the States.

During her university years in the U.S., Marlene specialized in key topics for the development of her region, digging in areas such as the political actors and parties of Latin America and involving as a research assistant on studies related to the Escazú Agreement and climate change

This academic focus, combined with her multicultural experience, positions her as a future social leader, capable of making positive change in her community and beyond.

Seeing Marlene graduate with honors is the most compelling proof that quality education, continuous support, and trust in the talent of our communities truly change lives.

Now Marlene can return to her school to share her experience with other students and inspire them by example. Because her story is a living testimony to how investing in education can break the statistics and open doors to a future full of possibilities.
