Hello, Córdoba! Piecitos Colorados family continues to grow in Argentina
Table of contents:
Our Development Cooperation program has landed in the state of Córdoba, Argentina, welcoming a new educational institution: Escuela Precursora Cornelio Saavedra. With this new incorporation, we count with eight Argentine schools enrolled in Piecitos Colorados, joining a network of 38 institutions across Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Honduras, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay, supporting more than 5,000 vulnerable students.
What does it mean to be a “Piecitos school”?
Piecitos Colorados program was born with a clear premise: to view the school as the true engine of transformation for a community. It is not just about one-off aid, but a process of continuous support. In the case of the Cornelio Saavedra School, this will benefit more than 100 students, from preschool through secondary level.
Our intervention is based on four strategic pillars designed to offer integral development to the students:
- Infrastructure Reinforcement: Adapting spaces to ensure a safe and stimulating environment.
- Nutritional Training: Promoting healthy habits essential for growth and learning.
- Sports Promotion: Encouraging physical activity as a vehicle for acquiring values and teamwork.
- Educational Improvement: Implementing tools and methodologies that raise academic quality.
Claudia Ludueña, center’s primary school director highlighted: “As a rural school, we are proud to have been given this opportunity—not to be left isolated and to always be weaving networks. Furthermore, both organizations share a multidisciplinary approach to education that allows for the student's holistic development.”
A welcome defined by reading and commitment
To celebrate the start of this new academic year, our Prosegur volunteers traveled to the school to accompany the students in this filled with excitement. Storytelling sessions were imparted and the delivery of 140 books specifically selected for each age group, thanks to our strategic alliance with Fundación Leer. Additionally, students received complete school kits—including backpacks, pencil cases, and supplies—to ensure they have everything they need to start the term.
Closing the loop: From uniforms to school kits
One of the most innovative aspects of this delivery lies in its origin. In line with Prosegur’s commitment to sustainability and the circular economy, the backpacks and uniforms were made by recycling the company's discontinued uniforms.
This transformation process was carried out by Fundación Cuñá, an organization dedicated to generating decent employment for women in vulnerable environments. In this way, the project completes a value cycle: we protect the environment, promote labor inclusion, and support children's education.
A growing network to transform futures
At the Prosegur Foundation, we understand that education is not only a fundamental right but the most powerful tool for creating development opportunities and building a more supportive society.
For Marianela Ron, head of the Prosegur Foundation in Argentina, this step is vital: “Adding this school to Piecitos Colorados means being able to support more children from low-income communities and helping them have better future opportunities through education.”
