In Honduras, we continue to promote education through Piecitos Colorados
Our Piecitos Colorados programme aims to improve comprehensive education and the quality of life of students, using the school as a driver of change. In Honduras, this approach arises from tangible improvements that have transformed the educational environment of the students at the Sonia María Mejía educational institution, located in the municipality of Villa de San Francisco.
Among the most notable advances are the delivery of personalised school kits, which allow each child to learn with dignity and confidence. In addition, the sports field has been rebuilt, promoting physical development and the learning of values through play.
The commitment to sustainability has also been key. Two school gardens have been created, one traditional and one hydroponic, which not only teach cultivation techniques but also promote healthy eating habits and the consumption of locally sourced food.
Another significant achievement has been the creation of a reading corner, a spot designed to stimulate imagination and creativity by accessing to books and literacy activities. This initiative has been complemented by book donations and digital skills training, which prepares students for the challenges of the 21st century.
Before the end of the year, the school is expected to receive computers, with the aim of continuing strengthening students' digital skills and expanding teacher training in innovative methodologies.
Through this initiative, the Prosegur Foundation directly benefits 36 primary school students from 25 families in the village of Altos de Villa and contributes to the professional development of local teachers.
Piecitos Colorados demonstrates that, with collaboration and commitment, it is possible to transform education and open up new opportunities for future generations.
