Teachers at our Piecitos San Ramón school receive training in inclusive education to transform their classrooms
As part of our Piecitos Colorados Development Cooperation programme, we have carried out a new training initiative in Paraguay that focuses on inclusive education. Teachers from the San Ramón school participated in the ‘Embracing Differences’ workshop, a learning day designed to equip them with tools to better meet the needs of each student.
The training was given by educational psychologist Liu Ficorilli, a professional with extensive experience in educational initiatives such as Lego Paraguay and Espacios de Ser, and a participant in our Challenge for Education programme. During the workshop, the teachers became students for a day, exploring methodologies that promote inclusion and respect for individual learning rhythms.
Learning to teach better
The main objective of the workshop was to offer teachers practical resources to promote more equitable teaching, in which every child can develop fully, regardless of their abilities, learning styles or personal context. Inclusive education not only improves academic performance, but also strengthens the social fabric of the school community, promoting values such as empathy, tolerance and cooperation.
The workshop participants showed great interest and commitment, and are now preparing to apply what they have learned in their daily classroom routines. This transition from learning to practice is key to achieving a real and lasting impact in the educational environment.
School and family: a necessary alliance
As part of this initiative, we have also invited the students' families to a community talk to reflect together on how to address diversity in the classroom and at home. Under the slogan ‘seeing difference not as a problem, but as an opportunity for growth,’ the aim is to strengthen the bond between school and family, creating a more inclusive and enriching environment for all students.
The active participation of families is essential to consolidate progress in educational inclusion. When parents and teachers work together, a support network is created that promotes the comprehensive development of children, especially in vulnerable contexts.
